City of Lacey Contract Public Defender (In-custody Calendar Coverage)

 

The City of Lacey is accepting applications for one (1) contract public defender to represent indigent defendants in the Thurston County District Court in 2023.

The City of Lacey is seeking a public defender to provide coverage for one (1) calendar (in-custody) on Friday afternoons at 1:30 p.m.

Applicants must be a member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association with a minimum of one year of criminal defense experience. Experience handling public defense cases is preferred.

Contract period for this position runs from February 1st, 2023 through December 31st, 2023, with a possible option to renew for a full year in 2024.

The flat rate monthly compensation is anticipated to be based on the following scale:

2023 = 1 calendar/year=$601.56/month

2024 = 1 calendar/year=$631.64/month

Public defender must be able to meet caseload standards and quarterly certification; reporting to the City of Lacey is required.
