Senior Public Defenders

Opening for multiple Senior Public Defender’s to practice in all the trial courts in which assigned counsel attorneys work, without supervision. Provides general supervision to attorneys and support staff. Supervises the Public Defenders assigned to each unit. This position reports directly to the Assistant Chief Public Defender and works in collaboration with other Senior Public Defenders and administrative staff.

Salary range: $10,312.00 – $15,469.00 per month

Assistant Chief Public Defender

The Assistant Chief Public Defender is responsible for assisting the Director with the administration and operation of the public defense delivery system in Clark County. This position performs a high level of complex administrative, supervisory, and participatory legal work in directing the staff, policy, and operations of Clark County Public Defense.

Salary range: $11,447.00 – $17,171.00 per month

Legal Assistant

Legal Assistants act as personal assistant for administrative and professional superiors and may also be required to act in the capacity of lead worker for other clerical classifications within the Clark County Public Defense. As assistants to assigned teams of attorneys, the Legal Assistant studies case files and prepares proposed court orders, retrieves criminal history information, serves as a liaison between witnesses and attorneys, handles correspondence and maintains case files. Alternate assignments may involve performing lead functions such as planning work and setting daily priorities, distributing and checking work, developing office procedures, and resolving minor work or personnel problems and providing input to performance evaluations.

Salary range: $25.73 – $34.74 per hour
