Dalton Law Office Seeks Associate/Senior Attorney
August 5, 2022 | Alison Pagan

What we want / what we offer: We are a firm with three full-time attorneys and staff, helping people in the SW Washington, looking for an associate attorney to handle a mostly criminal defense caseload, starting with mostly misdemeanors and support to the senior attorney but working towards handling all types of criminal matters.  We have not had any indigent defense contracts for many years and work with only private hire clients. Our senior attorney would like to shift focus, handing over misdemeanor cases and mentoring a less experienced, incoming attorney.  Our lawyers are zealous and compassionate, and we also support and promote work/life balance.  Our office is in a large Victorian, about a mile from the Clark County courthouse, and our warm, high caliber firm has a solid, fourteen-year presence in the Vancouver and Southwest Washington area. Spanish language skills would be highly valued.

Our Core Values: Having compassion and respect for all people, zealous pursuit of our clients’ reasonable goals, fostering innovation and excellence in the practice of law, and creating a supportive and comfortable work environment while remembering that being human is important.

Our Firm and Vision for This Position: We currently have a strong flow of clients based on our reputation in the community, word of mouth, and our successful advertising campaign for our areas of law in Vancouver and SW Washington.  The criminal defense practice generates strong gross receipts and would be likely to continue generating for a personable and somewhat experienced practitioner.  We are fine with having an attorney who wants to work some from home but a significant on site presence will be expected so that our senior attorney can provide oversight and mentoring.  Compensation is negotiable and DOE. Good medical and other expense coverage and benefits are available after an initial period of employment.

Needed qualifications:  Current Washington license to practice in good standing, Oregon licensing will be valued. Some experience practicing law in a criminal defense or prosecution role is preferred (may consider fresh law graduate with relevant experience).

Your Requested Response:  Please respond with resume and cover letter to nicole@daltonlawoffice.net, regarding “associate attorney position.”  Your cover letter should tell us why this position resonates with you, the practice areas you are passionate about, and something about what you are seeking.  We may solicit additional information from qualified candidates, including writing samples.  This position is open for immediate hire and will remain open until filled by the right candidate.
