DSHS Seeks Ombuds to the Special Commitment Center

As the Ombuds to the Special Commitment Center (SCC), you will provide high-level oversight into the care, treatment, and control adults civilly committed under RCW 71.09 as Sexually Violent Predators to the care and custody of the Department of Social and Health (DSHS). The SCC Ombuds supports the Secretary’s priorities of supporting people in our care and custody, increasing organizational efficiency, performance, and effectiveness.

In this position you will serve as an independent, impartial, investigative entity for complaints from SCC residents, staff, outside agencies, and members of the public. The SCC Ombuds is responsible for examining these complaints in light of relevant policies, rules, statutes, and court decisions; while working collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders and DSHS Executive Leadership to achieve creative solutions to systemic challenges.

As the Ombuds, you will provide quality assurance and consultation to high-level decision makers- crafting and advocating for recommendations that will improve the experience of SCC residents, lessen the likelihood that objectionable acts will occur, strengthen rapport between the residents and the program, uphold the integrity of internal policies and operations, and support a person centered culture in the institution.

Salary Range: $5,000.00 – $6,666.67 Monthly
