HAWKINS & CRAWFORD, the main Public Defender for the City of Federal Way Municipal Court, is looking for a dedicated public defender to join our practice either as a part-time contract defender or a full-time defender. Successful applicant must be a team player, be committed to public defense as a career and licensed to practice law in Washington State. Must be comfortable representing indigent clients and those with mental health/substance abuse issues and have strong research/writing/time management skills. 1 year or more of public defense experience is preferred. Must be available to start immediately. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this position is mainly telecommuting where court appearances occur on Zoom. In person court appearances for counsel are only required for testimonial motions and jury trials at this time.
