HAWKINS & CRAWFORD, a small public defense firm located Federal Way WA is looking for a dedicated public defense attorney. $75k salary. We pay annual bar dues, annual membership to the Washington Defender Association, malpractice insurance and medical/dental insurance. We are looking for the right person to join our team for the long haul. This position requires a commitment of a minimum of one (1) year.

We are looking for an attorney that is passionate about public defense, is eager for trial and comfortable with regular (often daily) courtroom appearances. Most court appearances are via Zoom except for trials. Must be good with client communication, be proficient in understanding and dealing with indigent clients. Must be able to properly manage and maintain a reasonable yet substantial caseload, abide by timelines and be competent with legal issue spotting, research and writing relevant to criminal law. Must have valid driver license and be licensed and in good standing with the Washington State Bar. Two (2) year of public defense or criminal defense experience preferred. Due to COVID-19 we are doing most court appearances (except trials) and client appointments via Zoom at this time, so experience with Zoom is preferred.
