The Kitsap County Office of Public Defense is staffed with outstanding attorneys dedicated to providing very high quality representation to individuals charged with felony crimes.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Public Defender, Attorney 4 to join our team.  The incumbent works to promote the overall goals of effective representation for indigent defendants by preparing and trying complex felony cases and managing appeals to the Washington State Court of Appeals or Supreme Court.  The incumbent has responsibility for unit supervision and/or  assignment of complex felony/criminal cases and work assignments that call for greater knowledge, judgment, discretion, decision-making and understanding of the casework.

The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of adult and juvenile criminal laws of the State of Washington, and the Washington and United States Constitutions.  Our new team member will understand the Rules of Court, including evidence rules, criminal rules and rules of professional conduct as well as advanced techniques of preparation of criminal cases, including expert witness and forensic evidence issues.
