Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel seeks a full-time extra-hire attorney. The attorney will represent indigent clients in all stages of misdemeanor, criminal proceedings, including arraignment, motions, trial, and review hearings. The ideal candidate will have excellent research and writing skills, courtroom experience, and a demonstrated commitment to social justice. Experience working with mentally ill, non-English speaking, and/or indigent populations is a plus. Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel provides in-house training, mentorship, and allows new attorneys to gain significant courtroom experience.
This is a temporary, contract position. Permanent positions may become available. $33 per hour, 35 hours per week.
