Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel Seeks Extra Hire Attorneys

Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel is looking for Extra Hire Attorneys.  The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, excellent research and writing skills, courtroom experience, and a demonstrated commitment to social justice.  Experience working with mentally ill, non-English speaking, and/or indigent populations is a plus.  Courtroom or clinic experience preferred.

Attorneys will represent indigent clients in all stages of misdemeanor criminal proceedings, including arraignment, motions, trial, and review hearings.  Assignments will depend on experience.  Member of the Washington State Bar Association (in good standing) required. This is a temporary, 6-month position.  Permanent positions may become available.  $35 per hour, 35 hours per week (M-F, 8:30-4:30) with an expected start date of January 2021.
