Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law
Since its incorporation in 1980, the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law has provided a wide range of legal services to vulnerable low-income victims of human and civil rights violations and technical support and training to hundreds of legal aid attorneys and paralegals in the areas of immigration law, constitutional law, and complex and class action litigation.
The Center has achieved major victories in numerous class action cases in the courts of the United States and before international bodies that have benefited hundreds of thousands of immigrant children, asylum seekers, immigrant workers, and other vulnerable populations.
About the Role:
Attorneys will work on nationwide class action litigation involving the conditions of detention and release of immigrant minors and families detained by the US Border Patrol, a campaign and Freedom of Information Act litigation aimed at suspending the U.S.Coast Guard’s Haitian interdiction program and ICE deportation of Haitian asylum seekers, a campaign to strengthen federal protections for immigrant whistleblowers, UN petitions and a campaign to end the mass eviction of indigenous Maasai people in Tanzania to make room for trophy game hunters, trainings and technical support for legal services providers focusing on immigration law, constitutional law, and class action litigation, and other cases and projects involving the protection of vulnerable communities. Candidates must be admitted to practice law and preferably have litigation or immigration law experience. Salary depends on experience.
The Executive Administrator will manage financial and administrative tasks, including accounting, bank reconciliations, payroll, etc. Candidates must have experience using accounting software and preferably working in an administrative capacity for one or more non-profit organizations. Salary depends on experience.
