Criminal Defense Associate or Rule 9 Intern
Law firm with offices in Shelton and Aberdeen seeks an associate attorney interested in handling misdemeanor cases out of our office in Aberdeen. This is an entry level, full-time, position. However, more experienced attorneys are encouraged to apply. Pay will be commensurate with experience. Training will be provided.
The firm’s primary focus is public defense services for the State and municipalities. Applicants with other legal skill sets are also encouraged to apply. The Associate will be responsible for a near full-time caseload in Grays Harbor County District Court and as needed in Aberdeen Municipal Court. Occasional coverage in other courts will be required. Currently, both courts are operating over Zoom. This may change in the future. An office will be provided in Aberdeen, but there are opportunities to work from home as well.
Applicants should be licensed attorneys in Washington State or Rule 9 qualified interns awaiting results from the July bar exam. Prior experience with criminal litigation is helpful. The successful applicant will be dedicated to protecting their clients’ constitutional rights, able to negotiate successfully with the prosecutor and be comfortable working with a diverse and indigent population.
The firm offers paid training, a flexible work schedule, work from home options and a laid back, collegial work environment. A 12- month commitment is desired.
