Position: Senior Attorney in Post-Conviction Law (Statewide, Hybrid/Remote)
The Role
TeamChild seeks a passionate and talented attorney with expertise in post-conviction juvenile law and decline cases, especially resentencing, personal restraint petitions, juvenile record sealing, reentry planning, relief from registration, restitution, legal financial obligations, and protection orders. TeamChild holds a contract with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families Juvenile Rehabilitation to represent youth who are incarcerated on juvenile and adult sentences. We are looking for an experienced attorney to build up our post-conviction practice. This attorney will provide direct legal advocacy to youth who are incarcerated statewide in our state’s Juvenile Rehabilitation (prison) system or who have recently been released. The work may include some issues related to conditions of confinement. Senior Attorneys are supported by the Director of Legal Services. In addition to handling a moderate caseload, Senior Attorneys provide mentoring and support for all legal program staff in their substantive area of focus. This includes co[1]counseling cases, providing advice and consultation to attorneys about their cases, developing substantive training to all staff in their area of focus, and contributing to the creation of case handling resources (briefs, advocacy letters, and other templates/resources). Senior Attorneys will also participate in community engagement, outreach/training, and systemic advocacy related to their substantive area of focus.
