The Kitsap County Office of Public Defense seeks Attorney II

The Kitsap County Office of Public Defense is staffed with outstanding attorneys dedicated to providing very high quality representation to individuals charged with felony crimes.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Attorney 2 to join our team.  The incumbent will be responsible for preparing and trying felony criminal cases in Superior Court, many of which involve complex litigation.  This position will also handle misdemeanor cases.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the criminal laws of the State of Washington, as well as the Washington State and the United States Constitutions.  Our new team member will understand evidence and criminal rules, and rules of professional conduct, as well as preparation of criminal cases to include expert witness and forensic evidence issues.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • Juris Doctorate from a recognized and accredited law school.
  • Two years criminal law experience.
  • An active member in good standing of the Washington State Bar Association.

Preferred Experience

  • Felony law experience.
  • Experience working with Kitsap County Courts.
