Job Summary

Whatcom County is seeking a part-time attorney to represent individuals who are subject to Involuntary Treatment proceedings (ITA) for Mental Health pursuant to RCW 71.05.

The position will vary in hours, but is generally less than 20 hours per week.  Representation will involve reviewing documents relative to 14, 90 and 180 day commitment proceedings, meeting with clients at the hospital, discussing the proceedings with hospital staff and attending treatment providers and assisting clients with agreed orders and hearings related to Involuntary Treatment.

 

 

Qualifications

Must be a current member in good standing of the Washington State Bar Association, OR must be a current member in good standing of another State Bar Association AND must become a member of the Washington State Bar Association by passing the next Washington State Bar exam

Background Check must meet County Criteria for criminal justice positions.

Must have a driving record that meets County standards and possess a valid driver’s license at time of hire and throughout employment.

 

Salary

$31.22 per hour
