Drake University Law School invites applicants to direct the Criminal Defense Clinic and join our faculty beginning July 1, 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to grow our beloved Criminal Defense Clinic following the retirement of the clinic’s longtime director, Professor Bob Rigg. The Criminal Defense Clinic currently emphasizes representation of low-income clients in misdemeanor cases before the Polk County District Court. We encourage interested candidates to reimagine the reach and impact of this clinic, should the candidates so desire.

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced criminal defense practitioners looking to pivot to clinical teaching. The Director will supervise students representing defendants in criminal law matters and teach a companion skill-development seminar. The faculty position can be tenured, tenure-track, or long-term contract depending on the candidate’s qualifications and preferences.
