Training

Training

WDA’s training program is one of the most valuable benefits that comes with WDA Membership. We sponsor a wide array of in person CLE programs and webinars that enable public defenders to improve their practice and stay on top of the most current developments in criminal law and other related practice areas. All of our programs are completely free to current WDA Members.

In-Person Trainings

Each year, WDA sponsors numerous in-person trainings across the state designed to help defenders and investigators hone their skills and learn about current and emerging issues that affect their practice.

In April we hold our Annual Defender Conference—an intensive two-day program designed for attorneys of all experience levels to improve their practice and network with other defenders from across the state.

Another highlight of WDA’s yearly training program is our all day Ethics CLE held each December and designed to meet most or all of the entire three-year requirement for ethics credits.

Outside of those annual events, we also hold additional trainings on a myriad of topics from DUIs to the Death Penalty.

For more information about all of our in-person trainings, visit our Upcoming Trainings Page or if you want to WDA to work with you to plan a training in your community please let us know.

Webinars

In addition to in-person programs, WDA sponsors accredited web-based presentations. We generally hold two of these seminars a month. The curriculum of our webinar program is dynamic and strives to address timely issues that defenders are currently facing. It is also a convenient way to fulfill your CLE requirements! Upcoming webinars are also listed on our Upcoming Trainings page.

Past Programs

WDA stores selected recordings and materials from past programs and in-person trainings for our members to view. All of the recordings are accredited and are a valuable tool for reference and research. Members can find them by clicking the Past Trainings or Trainings by Subject at the left of this page.
