The Office of the Corrections Ombuds (OCO) is an impartial office within the Governor’s office, created to investigate and resolve concerns related to the health, safety, welfare, and rights of incarcerated individuals.

What this job is about
As an Intake Specialist, you’ll be responsible for receiving and entering complaints submitted to the office primarily though the OCO hotline as well as via mail, email, and online webform.  In addition, you’ll provide information to incarcerated persons and family members, and draft letters and other materials for internal and external audiences.

In this role, you’ll serve as a critical function of hotline support. With guidance from internal policies and procedures, you’ll represent the OCO with the highest level of professionalism while managing confidential calls with callers who may be in distress, or in crisis, and are often incarcerated. It is critical that the documentation of the intake conducted is accurate, thorough, and complete to ensure OCO management is able to assess the issue reported and assign the case out correctly.
