KING COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC DEFENSE SEEKS WELL QUALIFIED DEFENSE ATTORNEYS TO JOIN ASSIGNED COUNSEL PANEL
April 8, 2026 | Erin Stewart

King County Department of Public Defense (“DPD”) maintains a qualified panel of attorneys to provide indigent defendants and respondents with legal representation in King County when a conflict of interest or other case demands prevent DPD from providing representation.

DPD is seeking to add additional highly qualified and experienced criminal defense attorneys to our Assigned Counsel Panel across the many practice areas where we provide indigent defense representation. This includes Criminal defense in all classifications of Adult and Juvenile Felonies in King County Superior Court as well as Misdemeanors in both King County District and Seattle Municipal Courts. This also includes Civil defense in cases brought under the Involuntary Treatment Act (ITA), Family Defense for youth representation in King County Superior Court, and defense of Civil Contempt actions (COC).

DPD can offer competitive hourly rates in addition to compensation for mileage, parking, and case-related travel. For more information about King County DPD, including our Assigned Counsel Panel application, policies, and rates, please visit our website Assigned Counsel Panel – Public Defense – King County, Washington.

If you are interested in joining the DPD Assigned Counsel Panel, please submit a completed application (Assigned Counsel Panel Application) to our office at [email protected].
