Nielsen Koch & Grannis (www.nwattorney.net), a Seattle law firm representing indigent clients on appeal from criminal convictions, civil commitments, and orders suspending or terminating parental rights, seeks a smart, innovative, and personable office manager to run the administrative and operational aspects of our firm.

Work Location: In person, Seattle (Denny Triangle neighborhood)

Compensation:

  • $70,000 – $85,000 salary DOE
  • Paid time off

Responsibilities:

  • Office Management: Supervising a small support staff (including hiring and training), managing office space, ordering supplies, and ensuring a functional and efficient work environment.
  • Legal Support: Managing all aspects of a high-volume public defense practice, including tracking and meeting court deadlines in the Washington Court of Appeals and Supreme Court, obtaining and preparing appellate records for attorney review, and assisting with legal correspondence and document preparation.
  • Technology and Systems: Managing information systems, software, process improvement, and ensuring the firm’s technology infrastructure runs smoothly.
  • Strategic Planning: Participating in strategic planning and contributing to the firm’s overall success.
  • Communication: Coordinating with a variety of individuals including clients, attorneys, court reporters, court staff, and administrative agencies.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • Previous work in legal management or administration is preferred.
  • Previous work in appeals and public defense is beneficial.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with legal practice management software, including internal databases and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is crucial.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills (the ability to track and handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines), attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are vital.
