Antiracism for Trial...

Antiracism for Trial Attorneys
Studies show that people of color are disproportionately represented in the criminal justice system, yet our legal community is predominantly White. This session will help public defense attorneys develop skills for better relating to and representing clients of different ethnicities, and effectively advocating for clients’ rights. The presenter will use a video recorded interview with Dr. Ibram X. Kendi to present the basic concepts of antiracism. The speakers will facilitate classroom discussions to identify and strategize on how to incorporate these concepts into criminal defense representation.

Presented by Barbara Harris and Gideon Newmark with the Washington State Office of Public Defense.
