This CLE will discuss the process of setting up, filing, and litigating an appeal. Topics will include how to file an appeal so that counsel is appointed and the case proceeds smoothly, how to preserve issues for appeal, and the standards of review that trial attorneys should consider when deciding which issues to focus the most energy on for appeal. Presented by Gideon Newmark, Appellate Program Manager with the Washington State Office of Public Defense.
