This presentation will introduce the role amicus counsel plays as a friend of the court and how these briefs can be used to explore legal alternatives and historical context arguments. Trends and updates in appellate law will also be examined. Attorneys will learn how amicus advocacy is used by the defense bar and develop a greater understanding around the Washington State community that is involved in this advocacy. Presented by Melissa Lee and Jessica Levin with the Fred T. Korematsu Center for Law and Equality at Seattle University School of Law.
