This webinar will provide defense counsel with an overview of the most common types of immigration status and will equip attorneys with skills and tools that will help them determine their client’s immigration status. Clients themselves often don’t know or fully understand what their immigration status is, so defense counsel must know what questions to ask and what information to seek to get that information. We will also discuss how the ability to provide accurate and meaningful immigration advice depends on knowing the client’s status, as well as any immigration history. The immigration consequences of a given offense depend on the individual client’s circumstances: there is no single answer to the question of “what are the immigration consequences of the crime of X?”
