OPD: Livestreaming from JR: Tips on Effective Communication with Youth Clients
Join us for a roundtable discussion with youth currently committed to Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) in Washington at one of DCYF’s facilities. These young people will discuss the challenges they faced communicating with their criminal defense attorneys and other attorneys they worked with prior to and during their current commitments. They will provide tips as to how youth defenders can improve their communications with youth, especially those coming from marginalized communities, and answer questions related to improving communication moving forward.

Presenters: Roundtable discussion with youth from Juvenile Rehabilitation facilities led by Sara Zier (TeamChild) and Liz Mustin (OPD)

This is part three of a three-part virtual training series designed for any Washington defenders working with youth—either in criminal/delinquency matters, dependency proceedings, or both. This training series is geared to provide tips on how youth defenders can work together effectively across different legal systems and better understand the challenges our clients face.
