In April 2018 the Washington State Supreme Court adopted new guidelines for defense counsel who represent clients involved in juvenile justice proceedings. This webinar will focus on the roles and responsibilities of defense counsel as laid out in the new guidelines. Focus will be given to the seven specific guidelines outlined in the document that are intended to be used to inform professional conduct and performance. The presenters will speak about how the object of the guidelines is to identify the course of action that may be necessary, advisable, or appropriate for counsel to take in a case to ensure that the client receives effective representation. Guideline principles will be applied to hypothetical case examples to illustrate the concepts being discussed in the presentation. Presented by Bob Boruchowitz and George Yeannakis.
