Defenders can help their clients by bringing more oversight and accountability to the police behind the arrests. ACLU-WA Policing and Immigration Policy Program Director, Enoka Herat, will provide an overview of new laws passed to prevent police uses of force and misconduct, as well as bills at the state legislature to address traffic stops and consent searches, and to increase police accountability. Defenders will leave this CLE knowing what Washington’s police reforms are doing and how to identify police misconduct in your cases.
