The Washington Defender Association’s Incarcerated Parents Project (IPP) attorney, D’Adre Cunningham, will present this informative one and a quarter hour webinar. The program objectives are to build competence in supporting child-parent relationships and mitigating familial separation as part of the normal course of defense representation. The presentation will:
- introduce the resources available through Washington Defender Association’s Incarcerated Parents Project;
- review impact of parental incarceration on children;
- outline practice tips on removing sentencing conditions as barriers to parent-child relationships; and
- review barriers for incarcerated parents after sentencing to legal services, visitation, and alternatives to confinement programs.
