Probation: From Imposition to Fighting Revocation
Misdemeanor probation can sometimes be more burdensome than an initial sentence. Rachel Stine and Imran Sultan are public defenders who have challenged conditions of probation and probation revocations fiercely and successfully. They will discuss arguments for shorter or no probation, permissible conditions of probation and using your clients’ due process rights and newly amended CrRLJ 7.6, which goes into effect January 1, 2023, to keep clients out of jail pending probation hearings and fight probation revocation. Defenders will leave this webinar with arguments about conditions of probation they can use at sentencing and with knowledge about implementing the due process rights that apply at probation hearings and CrRLJ 7.6.
