Registration Open: Preparing for Resentencing CLE (virtual)
WDA will offer a full day virtual CLE focusing on resentencing cases, held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 8:50 AM – 4:45 PM (Friday Nov. 10 is a holiday).

  • 10:00-11:00 Resentencing: What’s Working, What’s Not, and What Might Work in the Future
  • 11:15-12:15 Special Consideration in Monschke Resentencings,
  • 1:30-2:00  Ethics: Communicating with Clients Serving Life and Long Sentences
  • 2:00-3:00 Inclusion: Partnering with Community at Resentencing Hearings
  • 3:10-3:40  Release Plans for Resentencing Hearings
  • 3:40-4:40  Ethics: The Prosecutor Threatens to Argue Breach of Plea Agreement
  • 4:40-4:45 Wrap Up

Faculty include criminal defense attorneys Jeff Ellis, Alexandra Manno, Jennifer Bartlett, David Trieweiler, Kelsey Page, Cindy Arends Elsberry, along with Larry Jefferson, Director ,WA State Office of Public Defense, Jordan Casey, Release Specialist at the Seattle Clemency Project, Percy Levy, Community Outreach Specialist with WDA, and community members Ginny Parham and Willie Nobles.

This CLE will be open and free to all defense attorneys and team members, regardless of WDA membership.
