It’s time to sign up for WDA’s annual Defender Conference, an all-day virtual program being held on April 29, 2022. This year’s theme is dismantling barriers. These barriers can range from immigration consequence, language, and bias against certain populations.
We are honored to have Washington Supreme Court Justice Raquel Montoya-Lewis as a keynote speaker with us this year, as well as Anthony Powers and Kim Gordon of
American Equity Justice Group (AEJG). AEJG is using sentencing data from across the state to understand in real time sentencing disparities by race, gender, criminal charge and more with their
sentencing dashboard.
Additionally, there will be other sessions that will focus on cross examination, the right to a speedy trial, working with an interpreter, and Padilla duties, as well as legislative
updates. It is a day full of valuable training that will most certainly enhance your practice.
