Georgetown Law’s Center for Innovations in Community Safety (CICS) seeks a Director of Alternative Response Initiatives to lead its work supporting the growing movement of alternative first response organizations. CICS uses individual interventions and systems-level change to transform and end overreliance on policing and to mitigate the devastating impacts of racial and ethnic discrimination and economic inequality in the criminal legal system. Alternative responder programs are designed to provide more effective responses to the majority of 911 calls each year that do not require a response from fire, medical, or law enforcement. CICS has been one of the nation’s leading voices providing policy, research, and convening support to these programs. The Director of Alternative Response Initiatives will be primarily responsible for leading all aspects of CICS’s program development in its alternative first response portfolio, including policy development, technical assistance, and advocacy, as well as assisting with the development of relevant research projects.
