Okanogan County is now accepting applications for six positions of Deputy Public Defender. These are full time exempt positions with the following salary tables DOE:

Grade 49 DPD I $7951-$9664 per month

Grade 53 DPD II $8769-$10,658 per month

Grade 57 DPD III $9689-$11,740 per month (ability to handle felony cases)

There is also a generous benefit package including: Medical, dental, vision, employer paid life and disability insurance, retirement, 11 paid holidays and 2 floating holidays, sick and annual leave accruals.

OVERVIEW

The Deputy Public Defenders practice in Superior Court and District Court (depending on the qualifications of the Deputy Public Defender), plans, organizes, and coordinates the representation and defense of indigent clients in criminal cases for the County, with minimal supervision. Prepares and tries felony and misdemeanor cases. Position exercises a high level of independent judgement and is an “At Will” position.\
