Law firm with offices in Shelton and Aberdeen seeks an associate attorney interested in handling misdemeanor cases out of our office in Shelton. This is an entry level, full-time, position. However, more experienced attorneys are encouraged to apply as the firm also handles. felonies. Pay will be commensurate with experience. Training will be provided.

The firm’s primary focus is public defense services for the State and municipalities. However, the firm does accept retained clients.

The Associate will be responsible for representing indigent defendants in Aberdeen Municipal Court once a week on zoom on Thursday.

The associate will also handle cases in person in Shelton Municipal Court on Wednesdays and Mondays. The Wednesday calendar is for pretrials and treatment court and takes most of the day. The Monday Calendar is in the afternoon and usually lasts about 1.5 hours. Tuesdays and Fridays you will be on call if there are any arrests overnight. These on call calendars are short and last about 30 minutes. Other days of the week there is the option to work from home. In a typical week you can expect to be in person in Shelton 2-3 days a week and on Zoom 2-3 days a week. An office will be provided in Shelton

Applicants should be licensed attorneys in Washington State or Rule 9 qualified interns. If you do not live in Washington State, please do not apply. Prior experience with criminal litigation is helpful, but not required. Applicants with other legal skill sets are also encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will be dedicated to protecting their clients’ constitutional rights, able to negotiate successfully with prosecutors and be comfortable working with a diverse and indigent population. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required.

The firm offers paid training, a flexible work schedule, work from home options and a laid back, collegial work environment. Medical, dental and life insurance is provided. Low end of pay range is for interns and high end is for more experienced attorneys. Commissions are paid in addition to the listed salary.
