As an Early Resolution Ombuds 1, you will be responsible for conducting investigations of complaints as assigned; receiving and entering complaints submitted to the office primarily though the OCO hotline; and providing auxiliary support for complaints submitted to the OCO via the mail, email, and online webform. You will use your excellent customer service, critical thinking, and conflict resolutions skills to negotiate positive outcomes for the incarcerated people we serve.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintain confidential records as outlined in RCW 43.06C.060.
- Receive and document complaints from and on behalf of the individuals incarcerated in DOC facilities primarily through the OCO hotline.
- Attend scheduled hotline shifts as required to ensure adequate coverage.
- Resolve complaints from and about the individuals incarcerated in DOC facilities.
- Review, document, and retain documentary evidence from the DOC’s systems, within confidential OCO systems.
- Request time sensitive video/photo/audio surveillance/recordings from the DOC.
- Effectively prioritize complaints assigned for urgency.
- Accurately document work for the purposes of creating externally reportable outcomes.
- Participate in internal OCO meetings and external meetings with DOC and/or stakeholders.
- Facilitate methods of resolution at the lowest level possible with DOC employees.
