The updated WSBA Standards for Indigent Defense Services were passed by the WSBA Board of Governors with a 12 – 1 vote.  Watch the BOG discussion here. The new standards are being forwarded to the Washington State Supreme Court.  We are uncertain about the next steps in the process. When the standards last were updated by the WSBA, the court published the proposed standards for the court rule for comment.  The CPD Standards Committee and WDA board will be looking further at the proposed time frame for implementation and what needs to be in place to meet the potential requirements in the current proposal.  Please let Christie Hedman know if you have any questions and we’ll keep you posted as things develop.
