WDA is excited to be partnering with Gideon’s Promise, JustLead Washington, and the Court Improvement Training Academy (CITA) to provide the 2020 Defender Leadership Development Program. The mission of the program is “developing defenders into effective leaders, advocates and agitators for advancing innovative ideas for clients and communities.” We welcome individuals seeking to develop leadership skills regardless of experience, organizational status or job description, and encourage both those in traditional leadership positions and those who are leading in other ways to attend.  We are seeking diversity in geographic, practice area and lived experience from our participants. The program is highly interactive and open to participants with different perspectives and goals. The program will begin at 1:00pm on Thursday, April 23 and end at 12:00 on Friday, April 24. The program will take place at Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop, Washington on April 23 and 24, directly preceding the main Defender Conference. If you plan on attending the main conference, you will need to register separately by clicking here. We encourage you to make your plans now to attend. Sun Mountain Lodge has limited capacity, however there are quite a few other options in the Winthrop area. If you are unable to book a room at the lodge, you can try getting on the waiting list as a back up to your confirmed accommodations, as some rooms will open up closer to the conference.
